If you are going to do base-level exercise for physical fitness, you are going to need to do 30 minutes per day, 5 days per week. That comes out to a little over 10.5 hours per month.
Now, imagine that your schedule is pretty cramped in January. So, you decide to do all your exercise in one day. Will you get results in your body if you go to the gym on one Saturday and work out for 11 hours? You will get a result, alright! But it won’t be what you want.
Your mind and spirit are the same. You need regular practices to condition your self to your true identity and purpose in the world.
Here’s an exercise I did with our youth group yesterday at our Christmas party.
Ephesians 2:10 reads, “For we are [God’s] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (ESV)
Take an index card or piece of paper and hand write this verse, replacing “we” with your full name. Read it aloud to yourself. Then pray a short prayer asking God to help you see the good works he has prepared for you.I am God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God has prepared beforehand that I should walk in them. (Eph 2:10) Click To Tweet
Do this every day for two weeks. I bet it will change the way you walk through your day. And I’d love to hear your story about how it changed you. Leave a comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You are God’s gift to the world. Believe it. Own it. Live it!
Grace and peace,
